Rachel has a B.A. from Columbia, with a major in Archeology, and an M.A. from Hebrew University, in Prehistoric Archeology.  She became a PhD candidate at STS @ BIU in 2007-8, and her currently pending doctoral dissertation proposal is entitled "And It Was Good?": Contemporary American Modern Orthododox Engagement with Darwinism.

Rachel also works with her husband Rabbi Ian Pear in the organization they co-founded, Shir Hadash, as well as for Tzohar in the capacity of a pre-marriage counselor.  Rachel and Ian live in Jerusalem with their three daughters Gavri (10), Mimi (7), and Darya (5).
