Sex, Gender, Biology, Culture (27867) | Prof. Oren Harman

 The basic fundamental biological question, “What is sex?” will be at the center of our studies in this course, along with its direct and indirect social, political, and cultural consequences and influences. To what degree does the biological category “sex” translate into the cultural category “gender”, and what kind of dynamic influences this translation? In an attempt to answer this question, we shall examine biological, historical, and philosophical dimensions of this thorny and fascinating relationship.
